Construction Begins on 65-Unit Apartment Project in Hollywood
Construction is now underway for a new multifamily residential development by A.J. Khair at 1919-1921 N. Wilcox Avenue in Hollywood. Located south of the US-101 freeway, the project replaces a parking lot and a brick commercial structure with a six-story building featuring 65 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments. The development will also include automobile parking for 74 vehicles.
To achieve greater height, density, and floor area than standard zoning allows, the project utilizes Transit Oriented Communities (TOC) incentives. In exchange for these entitlements, seven of the new units will be set aside as deed-restricted affordable housing for extremely low-income households. GA Engineering is responsible for the design of 1919 Wilcox, which is planned as a contemporary podium-type building. Architectural plans show amenities such as a central courtyard, private balconies, a rooftop deck, and a recreation room. This development adds much-needed housing, including affordable units, to a transit-accessible area of Los Angeles.
