Jamison Services Begins Adaptive Reuse Project for 217 Apartments on Wilshire Boulevard

Jamison Services is proceeding with a new adaptive reuse project at 6380 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, having secured permits from the Department of Building and Safety. The development involves transforming a 17-story, 144,000-square-foot high-rise, originally built in 1963, into 217 apartment homes. This initiative marks an expansion of Jamison's adaptive reuse efforts beyond its traditional Koreatown focus.

The project, which received entitlements in 2023, will offer a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. It will retain the existing 176-car garage and the building's original windows and glazing. Next Architecture is responsible for the design, which also includes adding new windows to parts of the parking garage and a rooftop penthouse with an amenity deck. Residents will have access to approximately 27,000 square feet of amenities, such as a theater, co-working space, fitness center, and a rooftop pool.

Located near Metro's Wilshire/Fairfax subway station, this project contributes to the growing trend of converting underutilized commercial spaces into housing. For developers and lenders, this highlights the continued viability and regulatory support for adaptive reuse strategies in dense urban areas like Los Angeles, offering a pathway to address housing demand.
