The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority is making steady progress on its $668-million modernization of the G Line Busway in the San Fernando Valley. Construction on the elevated crossing and replacement station at Van Nuys Boulevard has reached 77 percent completion, while the adjacent Vesper Avenue overcrossing stands at 59 percent. Meanwhile, work on a separate bridge crossing Sepulveda Boulevard, which began heavy construction earlier this year, is now approximately 10 percent finished.

Beyond grade separations, the capital improvement initiative encompasses new gated crossings across 13 intersections, updated signal prioritization along 22 additional intersections, and enhancements to the parallel bicycle path. The upgrades are financed through voter-approved local sales tax measures Measure M and Proposition C, alongside state funding from Senate Bill 1.

Targeted for full delivery in 2027, the improvements are projected to shave 12 minutes off the current 50-minute trip between Chatsworth and North Hollywood. For real estate developers and property owners, the faster transit connection reinforces the transit-oriented development potential surrounding key San Fernando Valley corridors.
