Renderings Unveiled for Rebuilding Pacific Palisades Recreation Center

A presentation to the Los Angeles Board of Cultural Affairs Commissioners has revealed detailed renderings for the reconstruction of the fire-damaged Pacific Palisades Recreation Center. The comprehensive project, situated at 851 Alma Real Drive, is divided into two main components: the Core Park and the Recreation Center with its Tennis Pavilion.

Gensler is responsible for the design of the new two-story recreation center building, which emphasizes openness, transparency, and a strong connection to the outdoors through extensive glazing and controlled daylight. This design aims to create a bright, airy interior and establish the building as an accessible community landmark. SWA Group is designing the rebuilt 17-acre Core Park, which will feature a playground, basketball courts, athletic fields, seating areas, and walking paths. The overall redesign incorporates crucial fire safety strategies, including defensible space planning, the use of durable materials, and careful plant selection. This initiative represents a significant investment in public infrastructure, aiming to restore and enhance a vital community asset with modern, resilient design principles.
