Sylmar-based civil construction firm Tutor Perini Corp. recently secured two new contracts valued at a combined $88.2 million. The first, a $45.2 million award from the Guam Department of Public Works to subsidiary Black Construction, involves reconstructing two bridges on Route 1. This project aims to enhance long-term functionality and safety for the local community and U.S. military operations, with work expected to begin soon and conclude by early 2029.

The second contract, worth $43 million, was awarded to Perini Management Services by the U.S. Coast Guard. This project focuses on designing and constructing improvements at the East Tongue Point facility in Astoria, Oregon. The scope includes a new fixed pier, two floating docks, and a cutter support facility to accommodate four fast response cutters, alongside demolition, dredging, and utility upgrades. Design work commenced this month, with substantial completion anticipated in May 2029.

These new contracts will contribute to Tutor Perini's third-quarter backlog, which stood at $19.9 billion as of June 30. The company is also actively involved in several large-scale projects, including Phases 2 and 3 of the Metro D Line subway extension in Los Angeles, valued at approximately $6 billion, slated for completion before the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. For developers and investors, these contract awards signal continued activity and growth for major civil construction firms, even as backlog figures see minor fluctuations.
