The Regents of the University of California have expanded their commercial real estate portfolio by acquiring 16 properties in Los Angeles's Westwood Village for $49.8 million. This significant investment encompasses approximately 181,855 square feet of retail, office, and open space across 2.6 acres, primarily situated along Westwood Boulevard, Kinross Avenue, Gayley Avenue, and Lindbrook Drive, directly south of the UCLA campus. The portfolio was sold by Anderson Real Estate, a family-owned company with deep ties to UCLA, including the late John E. Anderson, after whom UCLA's business school is named.

While no specific development plans have been publicly disclosed for these newly acquired assets, this purchase continues the University of California's trend of strategic real estate investments. UCLA previously transformed the Westside Pavilion into a 700,000-square-foot research park and acquired Downtown L.A.'s Trust Building for academic expansion. This latest acquisition further solidifies the UC system's presence on the Westside, a notoriously challenging market for land assembly, indicating a long-term strategy for institutional growth and asset utilization in a high-density urban environment.
