The redevelopment of the former UC San Francisco campus in Laurel Heights is progressing, with developers filing permits for the second phase of the 744-unit Presidio Highlands project. This phase includes 220 apartments across three buildings, estimated to cost $196 million.

The master plan for the 10-acre site at 3333 California Street envisions a mixed-use community with residential units, retail space, a childcare center, and public open space. The first phase, permitted in February, consists of 152 apartments. The entire project, designed by Handel Architects, aims to transform the former institutional site into a vibrant residential neighborhood. This development is one of several large-scale projects by Prado Group in San Francisco focused on adding significant housing stock to the supply-constrained city.
