Santa Clara Planning Commission Reviews Annexation for 408-Unit Development

The Santa Clara Planning Commission is reviewing plans for the annexation of a 0.94-acre parcel from San Jose into Santa Clara, located at 451 El Camino Real. This move is crucial for the proposed development of 408 residential units by Newport Beach-based Bixby Land Company, allowing the project to proceed entirely within Santa Clara city limits. The site, currently occupied by four office buildings, is slated for 27 new structures, including a five-story apartment complex and 26 multiplex townhouses.

The project, known as University Station, will feature 297 apartments and 111 townhome residences, designed by KTGY. The proposed density is 37 dwelling units per acre. Bixby Land Company, which acquired the University Station property in 2007, aims to deliver high-density housing near transit in alignment with Santa Clara’s General Plan. Construction is estimated to take approximately four years. The Planning Commission meeting is scheduled for tonight, August 26th, at 6 PM.
