JW Anderson Leases 4,500 SF for First U.S. Store at SoHo’s 138 Wooster Street
British luxury fashion label JW Anderson has signed a lease for 4,500 square feet at 138 Wooster Street in Manhattan's SoHo district, establishing its first dedicated U.S. store. The influential brand, founded in 2008 by Jonathan Anderson, will occupy 3,000 square feet on the ground floor and an additional 1,500 square feet on the lower level of the five-story loft building.
The property, located between Prince and West Houston streets, is owned by Aurora Capital Associates, which handled the long-term deal in-house. Newmark's Jonathan Schley, Gabriel Staab, and Pierce Thompson represented JW Anderson in the transaction. Sources indicate the ground-floor asking rent was approximately $300 per square foot.
This move into a highly sought-after SoHo location, where quality retail space is increasingly scarce, highlights the brand's strategic expansion. Aurora Capital Associates acquired the 1920-built building in 2015 for $5.25 million and subsequently performed renovations. For developers and investors, this lease signals the enduring appeal and strong market fundamentals for premium retail assets in New York City's key fashion districts.
