World Trade Centers Association Leases 2,556 SF Office, Returns Headquarters to One World Trade Center
The World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), an international trade organization, has signed a lease for 2,556 square feet on the 46th floor of One World Trade Center. This agreement marks the WTCA's return to the campus after a 25-year absence, re-establishing its headquarters within the iconic building co-owned by the Durst Organization and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ).
John Drew, chair of the WTCA board, described the move as a "meaningful homecoming and a significant milestone" for the organization's global growth. The asking rent for the tower was reported in the high $80s to $90s per square foot as of July. The WTCA notably acquired the rights to the World Trade Center name from PANYNJ for a nominal $10 in the 1980s. Reports from 2013 suggested the WTCA sought free office space, valued at $500,000 annually, in exchange for PANYNJ's use of the name, though it's unconfirmed if this influenced the current lease terms. Jolene Yeats, WTC director at PANYNJ, welcomed the WTCA back, highlighting the site's role in fostering economic growth. This lease underscores the continued appeal and strategic importance of prime office real estate in Lower Manhattan for global entities.
