Retirement Housing Foundation Completes 54-Unit Senior Affordable Housing Project in Baldwin Park
Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF) has completed Central Metro Place, a new senior affordable housing complex located at 14513 Central Avenue in Baldwin Park. The $24.4-million development, which broke ground in 2024, features a four-story building with 54 apartments designed for residents aged 62 and above, alongside one unit for on-site staff. Amenities include community spaces, an exercise room, and laundry facilities on the ground floor.
The project is strategically situated steps from the Baldwin Park Metrolink station, providing residents with convenient access to public transit and community resources. Stuart Hartman, RHF president and CEO, highlighted the development's role in addressing the critical need for quality, affordable housing for older adults in the region. Birbagroup Architects designed the structure, with Walton Construction serving as the general contractor.
This completion comes as Los Angeles County anticipates a significant increase in its older adult population, projected to reach over 2.3 million by 2040. Many seniors face rent burden, with a 2023 study indicating over half pay more than 30 percent of their income on housing. Central Metro Place represents a vital addition to the local housing stock, offering supportive services and stable homes. This development underscores the ongoing efforts to provide accessible and affordable living options for seniors in transit-oriented locations.
