Houston’s Wells Fargo Plaza, Third-Tallest Texas Skyscraper, Listed for Sale
The Wells Fargo Plaza, a prominent 71-story skyscraper located at 1000 Louisiana Street in downtown Houston, has been put on the market for sale. This transaction could represent one of the largest office building deals in Houston in recent years. Developed by Century Development and opened in 1983, the 1.7 million-square-foot tower is currently owned by Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and the New York State Common Retirement Fund. They have engaged JLL Capital Markets brokers Jeff Hollinden and Kevin McConn to manage the sale.
Standing at 992 feet, the building is recognized as the third-tallest in Texas. Its current occupancy rate is 70.6%, with notable tenants including Wells Fargo, NextDecade, PwC, Susman Godfrey law firm, and the Adair restaurant. The sale follows another significant Houston office transaction in July, where the Williams Tower was sold for over $300 million. For developers, architects, and investors, the availability of such a landmark asset presents a substantial opportunity in the Houston commercial real estate market.
