Houston’s Wells Fargo Plaza, Third-Tallest Texas Skyscraper, Listed for Sale
The Wells Fargo Plaza, a prominent 71-story office skyscraper located at 1000 Louisiana Street in downtown Houston, has been put up for sale. This 1.7 million-square-foot property, recognized as the third-tallest building in Texas at 992 feet, was originally developed by Century Development and opened in 1983. Designed by Richard Keating while at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the building is known for its blue-green reflective glass and was once considered the tallest all-glass building in the Western Hemisphere.
Its current owners, Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and the New York State Common Retirement Fund, have engaged JLL Capital Markets brokers Jeff Hollinden and Kevin McConn to manage the sale. The tower, which has an occupancy rate of 70.6%, houses key tenants such as Wells Fargo, NextDecade, PwC, and Susman Godfrey.
This listing follows other notable Houston office transactions, including the recent sale of the 64-story Williams Tower. The availability of Wells Fargo Plaza presents a significant investment opportunity for developers and investors seeking a substantial asset in the Houston commercial real estate market, reflecting continued activity in the city's high-profile office sector.
