Fort Worth Officials Seek Injunction, Receivership for Troubled Senior Living Community
Fort Worth city officials are taking legal steps to address persistent issues at Manor Independent Living, a senior apartment community in the Las Vegas Trail neighborhood. Residents have faced unsanitary conditions, including trash accumulation, pests, leaks, and broken elevators, since at least August 2026. The property's ownership has also failed to pay utility bills, leading to concerns about service disconnections.
In response, Fort Worth code enforcement is seeking a court injunction to compel property owners, including Endeavor Group Real Estate LLC and Pramukh Mahant Senior Living Fort Worth LLC, to make necessary repairs. An August 7 city inspection identified over 100 code violations, ranging from biological growth and exposed wiring to foundation damage. A hearing for the injunction is scheduled for October 28.
Council member Michael Crain indicated that if the injunction fails to resolve the problems, the city plans to pursue receivership. This process would allow a court-appointed third party to take control of the property, collect rent, manage repairs, and pay utility bills, ensuring the well-being of the predominantly disabled and low-income residents. The city has also posted "do not occupy" notices on vacant units. This intervention highlights the city's commitment to enforcing property standards and protecting vulnerable tenants from negligent operators.
