Northwest ISD’s Davis High School Under Construction in Fort Worth, Set to Open in 2027
Construction is progressing on J. Fred Davis Jr. High School, Northwest ISD's fourth high school, located in north Fort Worth. The campus, named after longtime district trustee J. Fred Davis Jr., is scheduled to open in August 2027 and will accommodate 3,200 students. This significant project is a key component of Northwest ISD’s $2 billion 2023 bond package, representing approximately one-quarter of the total investment.
The school site, situated off North Riverside Drive near Interstate 35W and State Highway 170, saw a topping-out ceremony on September 25, where students signed a steel beam. The building's exterior is expected to be enclosed by early 2027, with interior work to follow. Davis High School will initially welcome freshmen and sophomores, adding a grade level each subsequent year. It will also host the district’s Transportation, Automation & Logistics Academy and is pursuing federal approval for an Air Force Junior ROTC program. The development reflects the booming enrollment growth and new construction across northern Fort Worth and surrounding areas in Tarrant, Denton, and Wise counties, highlighting the ongoing need for new educational infrastructure to support regional expansion.
