Lake Worth ISD Maintains Property Tax Rate Amidst Declining Home Valuations
The Lake Worth Independent School District (ISD) has maintained its property tax rate at $1.2265 per $100 of taxable value for the current year, a decision made unanimously by its state-appointed board of managers on September 16. Despite the unchanged rate, homeowners within the district are expected to see their school tax bills decrease by approximately $112 for a median-valued home.
This reduction stems from a reported decline in the median taxable value of homes within the Lake Worth ISD, which fell from $86,758 in 2025 to $77,650 this year, according to Tarrant Appraisal District records. The tax rate comprises 72.65 cents for maintenance and operations and 50 cents for debt payments, with the maintenance rate having steadily decreased from $1.0191 in 2021.
The district faces a projected general fund budget shortfall of about $1.38 million for the 2026-27 fiscal year, with Superintendent Ena Meyers noting this was a planned deficit aimed at restoring financial stability and improving student outcomes. For developers and property owners in Lake Worth ISD, the stable tax rate combined with falling taxable values could offer some relief on property tax liabilities, though the district's financial planning indicates ongoing efforts to manage its budget.
