Giesecke+Devrient Plans $13M Relocation and Headquarters Expansion in Ashburn

German security technology company Giesecke+Devrient America is preparing to invest $13 million to shift its U.S. headquarters within Northern Virginia. The Munich-based firm plans to move from Dulles to Ashburn, leasing 27,000 square feet of office space alongside 65,000 square feet of nearby flex industrial property.

While the relocation scales down the company's total footprint from 110,000 square feet to 92,000 square feet, the office component represents an expansion aimed at growing local operations. Loudoun County Economic Development reported that the firm expects to add 42 jobs to its existing 144-person workforce. The proposal is pending formal review and approval from the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

Elsewhere in the regional market, Standard Communities and Housing for All Inc. secured financing for an $82 million overhaul of Trinity Towers, a 122-unit affordable housing community in D.C.'s Columbia Heights. That capital stack includes $23.3 million in tax-exempt bonds from the D.C. Housing Finance Agency and $32.7 million in federal LIHTC equity.

These commercial moves reflect steady demand for specialized flex facilities and preserved affordable housing inventory across the greater Washington metropolitan area.
