Zara Expands Flagship Store to 45,000 Square Feet at Los Cerritos Center

Zara is set to open a new 45,000-square-foot flagship store at Macerich’s Los Cerritos Center in 2027, marking a significant expansion from its current 22,000-square-foot location. The existing store will remain operational throughout the construction period. This move highlights a continued commitment to large-format physical retail, even as the sector evolves.

The Los Cerritos Center, a 1.3 million-square-foot property located at 239 Los Cerritos Center in southeast Los Angeles County, is a key asset in Macerich's portfolio. The shopping center already hosts major tenants such as Apple, Nordstrom, MAC, lululemon, and Harkins Theatres. The Zara expansion is part of a broader wave of new leasing activity at the center, which includes recent additions like Coach, Aritzia, Alo Yoga, gorjana, Samsung, and Athleta. Furthermore, fashion brand Cider plans to open its only Los Angeles-area brick-and-mortar location outside Caruso’s The Grove during the upcoming holiday season, and DICK’S Sporting Goods is slated for 2028. Macerich, which owns 39 million square feet across 37 retail centers, reported a 94 percent occupancy rate after the second quarter of this year, indicating robust demand for well-located retail spaces.
