An application has been submitted to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning for a new mixed-use affordable housing development at 2306 W. Jefferson Boulevard in Jefferson Park. The project, spearheaded by Mark Judaken of Kalnel Gardens, LLC, proposes a six-story structure that will house 35 studio and one-bedroom apartments. With the exception of a single manager's unit, all residential units will be designated for low- and moderate-income individuals.

In addition to the residential component, the building will feature 1,480 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. Mika Design Group is responsible for the architectural plans, which describe a facade incorporating brick veneer on the lower two floors to align with the historic commercial character of the corridor, transitioning to light sand-colored stucco on the upper levels. This development, which replaces an existing surface parking lot, is one of two similar projects by the same team planned for the Jefferson Boulevard area, signaling a continued effort to expand affordable housing options and activate commercial corridors in Los Angeles.
