Site preparation has commenced for a senior affordable housing development situated at 7556-7572 N. Woodlake Avenue in the West Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. JZ Development, LLC, the project applicant, had secured city approvals in 2024 for a larger five-story structure. This initial plan featured 332 apartments designated for low- and moderate-income seniors, along with parking for 154 vehicles, and was designed by JZA Architecture in a Mediterranean style.

However, permits recently issued by the Department of Building and Safety reveal a significant change in the project's scope. The development team has chosen to move forward with a downsized version. The updated plans now detail a four-to-five-story building that will house 160 residential units. The 96,000-square-foot site, which was originally developed with a single-family home in the 1920s, is now undergoing initial work. This adjustment underscores how approved projects can evolve, impacting unit density and overall scale, a critical consideration for developers, investors, and urban planners assessing feasibility and market impact.
