A groundbreaking ceremony was held for Eden Housing's latest affordable development at 700 East Saint John Street in San Jose. The project will deliver 68 new affordable units, with 48 designated for households earning up to 60% of the area median income. Additionally, twenty units are reserved as Permanent Supportive Housing for seniors experiencing homelessness, offering them access to various amenities like a community room, food pantry, and recreation spaces.

The four-story, L-shaped building, designed by Architects FORA, features ground-level podium parking and incorporates the adaptive reuse of the historic Building 800 site. Its façade is designed to blend with the preserved historic structure. This 2.8-acre site is part of the East Santa Clara Master Plan, a joint effort by The Santa Clara County Housing Authority and the County of Santa Clara, with The Core Companies also developing portions. The initiative aims to create a high-density, community-oriented residential area with access to Downtown San Jose and San Jose State University. This project signifies a critical step in expanding accessible housing options and integrating new development within a comprehensive urban plan.
