The environmental review process has been finalized for a proposed townhouse development located at 1030-1038 McKendrie Street in Central San Jose, Santa Clara County. The project, spearheaded by Studio Current, aims to transform a 0.45-acre surface parking lot into two multi-family structures comprising 12 townhouse-style units. The city has issued a mitigated negative declaration (MND), indicating an agreement with the developer on measures to reduce potential significant environmental impacts during construction.

Situated in The Alameda, an historic district within Central San Jose, the site is conveniently located just blocks from the College Park limited-service Caltrain Station. Each residential unit will include private garages, complemented by surface parking for guests. According to the environmental review, construction is projected to take approximately five months, with a potential groundbreaking as early as next March. Crews are expected to work weekdays from 7 AM to 7 PM. The completion of the CEQA review marks a critical step, allowing the development to proceed towards securing necessary permits and commencing construction, contributing new housing stock to the area.
