Hoag Hospital Irvine Finalizes $1 Billion Expansion, Doubling Patient Capacity
Hoag Hospital Irvine has announced the completion of its $1 billion expansion, known as the Sun Family Campus, located along Sand Canyon Avenue. This significant project, comprising six new buildings, has more than doubled the hospital's patient capacity, increasing its total bed count to 251 with the addition of 155 new inpatient beds.
The expansion introduces 11 new operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and approximately 120,000 square feet of ambulatory facilities. It also features dedicated centers for cancer, women's health, and digestive health, alongside augmented surgical facilities and expansions to emergency, inpatient medical, and orthopedic care. A new women’s hospital includes a 24-hour OB emergency department and a 17-bed Level III NICU. Designed by LPA Design Studios, the campus prioritizes the patient experience, integrating natural light and landscaped gardens. This development represents a major investment in healthcare infrastructure for the region.
