Construction Starts on 75-Unit Affordable Housing Development at 1397 California Circle in Milpitas
A new affordable housing project has commenced construction at 1397 California Circle in Milpitas, marking a significant step for housing development in Silicon Valley. The groundbreaking, which occurred last month, initiates physical progress on a 75-unit residential building. Led by Waterford Property Co., Pacific Housing, and C&C Development, the five-story structure is designed by KTGY Architecture. It will offer one- to three-bedroom units, providing much-needed affordable options for individuals and families. The development aims to contrast with nearby for-profit condominiums by PulteGroup by offering higher-density affordable housing. On-site services, including youth tutoring, financial literacy, and wellness classes, are planned for residents. The building's design features a modern, boxy structure with blue cement panels and off-white brick. Situated near Highway 880, the location offers easy vehicle access, though public transit options are limited. Completion is anticipated by the end of 2028, contributing to the region's affordable housing stock. This project addresses the critical demand for accessible housing in a high-cost area.
