Dallas Cowboys Plan New Mixed-Use Entertainment District Around AT&T Stadium in Arlington
The Dallas Cowboys are moving forward with plans to develop a new sports and entertainment district surrounding their AT&T Stadium in Arlington. This initiative aims to mirror the success of The Star, the team's 91-acre mixed-use headquarters in Frisco, which includes office space, a hotel, residential units, medical facilities, and retail. Cowboys Chief Operating Officer Stephen Jones indicated that while development around AT&T Stadium has been slower, the team is now "right around the corner" from a similar venture.
AT&T Stadium, owned by the city of Arlington, recently secured a lease extension for the Cowboys until at least 2055, accompanied by a city investment of $273M for facility improvements. The stadium is already part of the larger Arlington Entertainment District, which features other sports venues and hospitality options. This development aligns with a growing national trend where sports teams transform stadium vicinities into year-round destinations, though Jones noted these projects are complex. The project signifies a major real estate opportunity for Arlington, leveraging existing infrastructure and the team's brand to create a vibrant economic hub.
