A joint venture of Fluor and Balfour Beatty has completed the $677 million Oak Hill Parkway project in southwest Austin, Texas, after five years of construction. This significant infrastructure upgrade, part of the Texas DOT’s Clear Lanes initiative, addresses a critical gateway between Austin and its rapidly expanding western communities. The project involved the reconstruction and widening of approximately seven miles of U.S. Route 290 and state Highway 71 through the Oak Hill area, expanding the roadway from two to three lanes in each direction.

Key improvements include the addition of direct-connect flyovers between U.S. Route 290 and state Highway 71, along with a new overpass at William Cannon Drive. The former Y-interchange was replaced with a more efficient single-point urban interchange configuration. The project also introduced new frontage roads, shared-use paths, and accommodations for both cyclists and pedestrians, enhancing multi-modal access. While the improved roadway system is now fully open to traffic, final activities such as landscaping and striping are expected to conclude by the end of the year. For developers and property owners in the region, this completed parkway promises improved traffic flow and accessibility, potentially boosting the appeal and connectivity of sites in southwest Austin and beyond.
