Updated plans have been submitted for a significant residential infill project at 2336 Dwight Way in Berkeley's Southside. The application outlines a new three-story complex featuring eight dwelling units, to be constructed behind two existing Victorian single-family houses. No demolition of the historic structures is required for this development.

The 0.16-acre property, situated between Ellsworth Street and Dana Street, was acquired by Oakland-based United Land Power Inc. in 2022 for $1.8 million. This latest proposal increases the unit count from a previous application, which had called for three four-bedroom apartments. The project aims to substantially boost the site's residential capacity within a dense urban area.

For developers and property owners, this project highlights the potential for increasing housing density through infill development, particularly by utilizing underutilized backyard spaces in established neighborhoods without impacting existing historic structures.
