The OCVibe project in Anaheim, a 100-acre master-planned development, is underway to transform the suburban landscape surrounding the Honda Center into a vibrant, dense mixed-use district. Privately financed by Henry and Susan Samueli, owners of the Anaheim Ducks, this $5 billion investment includes over 2,000 apartments, 170,000 square feet of office space, two hotels, and more than 35 dining concepts, alongside 20 acres of parks and plazas.

Construction began approximately three years ago, with phases scheduled for delivery through 2030-2031. Initial public-facing elements, such as the 50,000-square-foot Katella Commons market hall and a 5,000-capacity concert venue, are expected in 2027. The development's strategy prioritizes placemaking and infrastructure, including 8,000 new parking spaces, before the full residential and commercial build-out.

Scott Frick, OCVibe’s senior vice president of real estate, notes the project addresses Orange County's high rents and constrained housing supply, with inventory growth below 1% annually. Post-COVID, entitlements were reworked for greater flexibility, allowing investment in unique mass-timber office space. The goal is to create a destination that thrives beyond event nights, attracting both visitors and local residents year-round. This large-scale, privately funded urban infill project offers a model for transforming underutilized land into dynamic community hubs.
