Valor Energy, a Nasdaq-listed firm, has acquired an 18MW operational computing center located at 1911 Logan Avenue in Youngstown, Ohio, for $3.6 million. The site, spanning approximately 30,890 square feet, includes an existing 23kV utility interconnection with Ohio Edison, providing 18 megavolt-amperes of power capacity. This existing power infrastructure is considered a significant asset, potentially reducing the timeline for development, as securing such capacity can be challenging in the industry.

The company's strategic plan involves converting this facility into an AI data center. This transformation will necessitate additional design, construction, equipment installation, and permitting work. Dave Nichols, a strategic advisor to Valor Energy, highlighted the importance of the pre-approved and energized power capacity for their AI data center strategy.

Valor Energy, formerly known as Senmiao Technology, is pivoting from automobile transaction services in China to digital infrastructure. The Youngstown acquisition marks a crucial step in this new direction, complementing other planned data center projects, such as a large-scale development in Duchesne County, Utah. The focus on existing power capacity underscores a practical approach for developers entering the competitive AI computing market.
