Meta Housing Completes 160-Unit Affordable Development in Florence-Firestone
Construction is complete for the Metro @ Florence Apartments, a new affordable housing complex situated at 7220 Maie Avenue in unincorporated Florence-Firestone, Los Angeles County. Developed by Meta Housing Corp., the seven-story building replaces a former car wash and is located adjacent to Metro's A Line Florence Station.
The complex features 160 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, specifically reserved for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income. Plans also designated 72 units for permanent supportive housing. Residents will have access to over 12,000 square feet of open space, including a rooftop deck and courtyard, alongside 3,100 square feet of ground-floor retail and 2,100 square feet of community space.
Funding for the project included $51 million in bonds from Los Angeles County and a $30.8 million award in 2023 from the California Strategic Growth Council's Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities program. This funding supports on-site services and infrastructure. The completion of this transit-adjacent development adds crucial affordable housing inventory to the region, addressing demand for low-income and supportive housing options.
