Meta Housing Completes 160-Unit Affordable Housing Project in Florence-Firestone
Construction is now complete for the Metro @ Florence Apartments, a new affordable housing complex located at 7220 Maie Avenue in unincorporated Florence-Firestone. Developed by Meta Housing Corp., the seven-story building replaces a former car wash site adjacent to the Metro A Line's Florence Station, exemplifying transit-oriented development.
The project features 160 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments designated for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income. Notably, 72 of these units are intended for permanent supportive housing. Beyond residential space, the development includes over 12,000 square feet of open space, 3,100 square feet of ground-floor retail, and 2,100 square feet for community and office use, alongside 120 parking spaces.
Funding for the Metro @ Florence Apartments includes $51 million in bonds from Los Angeles County and a $30.8 million award from the California Strategic Growth Council in 2023. This state funding, provided through the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities program, also supports on-site services and transit improvements. This completion adds vital affordable and supportive housing stock to the Los Angeles region, addressing critical housing needs.
