West Hollywood Planning Commission Reviews 34-Story Mixed-Use Tower on La Brea Avenue
CIM Group's ambitious 34-story residential tower at 1000 La Brea Avenue is currently under review by the West Hollywood Planning Commission. The project, designed by Large Architecture, proposes 514 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, alongside 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and a 676-car garage. At 377 feet, it would be the tallest structure in West Hollywood.
The development includes a significant affordable housing component, with 128 units designated for moderate-, low-, and very-low-income residents, in exchange for density incentives. A development agreement also outlines a revenue-sharing model with the city from digital signage on the podium levels. City staff view this project as a crucial gateway development, marking the transition of the La Brea corridor from industrial to mixed-use. This initiative highlights how parcels at jurisdictional boundaries can facilitate taller multifamily construction, supporting urban density and affordable housing goals.
