A significant 34-story high-rise project at 1000 La Brea Avenue is advancing to the West Hollywood Planning Commission for review. Proposed by CIM Group, the development is slated for the former Cemex plant site and would become the tallest building in the City of West Hollywood, standing approximately 377 feet. Designed by Large Architecture, the building features 514 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, alongside 30,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space and a 676-car garage.

As a condition for development incentives, CIM Group is required to designate 128 of the apartments as affordable housing, catering to moderate-, low-, and very low-income levels. The project is situated at a transitional point between West Hollywood and Los Angeles, an area undergoing a substantial shift from industrial uses to public-facing commercial, residential, and hospitality developments. Staff reports highlight the design's role as a visual and functional gateway into West Hollywood, respecting the evolving urban scale. This project represents a major step in reshaping the urban landscape of West Hollywood, adding substantial housing and commercial capacity in a rapidly transforming corridor.
