High Street Residential and Barings Break Ground on 501-Unit Multifamily Development in Redwood City
High Street Residential (HSR), the residential arm of Trammell Crow Co., in partnership with Barings, has broken ground on a substantial multifamily development in Redwood City, California. This project is a key component of the ELCO Yards mixed-use district and will feature two apartment buildings offering a total of 501 units. The residential phase is projected for completion in 2029.
The first building, located at 1555 El Camino Real, will house 252 units averaging 751 square feet, complemented by 5,277 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The second building, at 113 Beech Street, will provide 249 units with an average of 787 square feet. Both communities will offer diverse layouts, from studios to three-bedroom units, with a portion of all units designated as affordable housing.
ELCO Yards is envisioned as a transit-oriented neighborhood, encompassing 501 apartments, over 600,000 square feet of office and lab space, childcare facilities, restaurants, and public green areas across six blocks. The commercial segment, led by IQHQ Inc., is already delivered and 50 percent leased, with notable tenants including The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and Orrick. WRNS Studio designed the residential buildings, and SBI Builders is the general contractor, marking continued investment in Bay Area mixed-use developments.
