Pappas Properties Begins Construction on Publix-Anchored Retail Center in Matthews, NC
Pappas Properties has commenced construction on a new Publix-anchored retail center located within the 84-acre Cadia Village Matthews mixed-use campus in Matthews, North Carolina. This development in the greater Charlotte metropolitan area will feature an approximately 50,000-square-foot Publix grocery store, which will include a full-service pharmacy with a drive-thru. The grocery anchor is projected to open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2027 and is expected to create around 150 employment opportunities.
Beyond the supermarket, the retail village at Cadia Village Matthews is slated to host a variety of commercial tenants. These will encompass medical office spaces, a bank branch, and a selection of fast-casual and sit-down restaurants, alongside other neighborhood retail and service providers. The broader Cadia Village Matthews project also integrates residential components, with single-family homes and townhomes currently under construction by David Weekley Homes. Choate Construction is serving as the builder for the retail village segment of the development on behalf of Pappas Properties. This project signifies continued growth in the Charlotte metro area, providing essential retail and services alongside new housing options for the community.
