Halmar has announced the completion of major accessibility upgrades at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium subway complex in the Bronx. This project is a component of a larger $965.26 million initiative by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to modernize 13 subway stations across New York City.

The upgrades at the Yankee Stadium station, which include new vertical transportation systems, are now fully operational. The broader program, managed by Halmar Infrastructure Development as the developer and financial sponsor through concessionaire Elevated Accessibility Enhancements, is unique for the MTA as its first transit public-private partnership (P3). This P3 employs a design-build-finance-maintain (DBFM) structure, integrating all lifecycle responsibilities from design and construction to financing and long-term maintenance under a single contract. This model aims to enhance risk alignment, coordination, and accountability compared to traditional construction contracts. Halmar International leads the execution, with Forte Construction handling civil work. Construction for the remaining 12 stations is projected to conclude in early 2027, offering a template for future large-scale infrastructure projects.
