Wegmans Opens 110,000-Square-Foot Grocery Store in Charlotte’s Ballantyne Development
Wegmans, a New York-based grocery chain, officially opened a new 110,000-square-foot store on Wednesday, October 14, at 11550 N. Community House Road in Charlotte, North Carolina. This new location serves as a key anchor for Ballantyne, a sprawling 2,000-acre master-planned development situated on the south side of Charlotte, near the South Carolina border, managed by Northwood Investors.
The store offers a full range of traditional grocery departments, including fresh produce, seafood, meat, bakery, and deli items, along with a selection of cheese, wine, and beer. Additionally, it provides specialized services like Meals2Go, catering, online shopping, a floral shop, coffee, and home goods. A market café with both indoor and outdoor seating is also available for customers. This new Charlotte store is currently the southernmost location in the Wegmans network and has created 450 new jobs. For developers and commercial real estate professionals, this opening signifies continued retail investment and growth within Charlotte's large-scale mixed-use projects.
