Glendale’s Largest Affordable Housing Project, Pioneer Village, Nears Completion
The Pioneer Village project, a substantial affordable housing development in Glendale, is nearing completion at 515 Pioneer Drive. Developed through a joint venture between Linc Housing Corp. and National CORE, the project recently secured a certificate of occupancy, signaling its readiness for resident move-ins. This development, situated on a former AT&T site acquired by the City of Glendale in 2019, is set to become the largest affordable housing complex in the city's history.
Designed by KFA Architecture, the podium-type development comprises three five-story buildings. It will offer 340 studio, one-, and two-bedroom units, catering to households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income. The complex features courtyards, community gardens, rooftop decks, and children's play areas. Plans also include converting a cul-de-sac on Kenilworth Avenue into a pedestrian paseo, connecting to Fremont Park. This project highlights Glendale's strategic efforts to utilize city-acquired land for critical affordable housing initiatives, providing much-needed income-restricted dwellings for the community.
