Preliminary Plans Filed for Six-Unit Apartment Complex at 340 Palo Alto Avenue in Palo Alto
Preliminary permits were filed on July 26, 2026, for a new four-story apartment complex located at 340 Palo Alto Avenue in Palo Alto, Santa Clara County. The application seeks to replace an existing single-family house with six new market-rate units. The project, designed by Palo Alto-based Heather Young Architects, is expected to yield approximately 19,800 square feet, including ground-floor parking.
The infill development's facade elevations suggest a design incorporating exterior balconies and a mix of materials such as concrete blocks, brick veneer, stucco, and wood slat siding. The 0.17-acre property was recently listed for sale by Newmark for $6.3 million. Its location is strategic, situated across from the tree-lined San Francisquito Creek, half a mile from the Palo Alto Caltrain Station, and close to the city's downtown commercial core.
While the estimated cost and construction timeline have not yet been disclosed, this project represents an effort to increase housing density through infill development in a high-demand urban area, aligning with broader regional housing goals.
