Miami City Commission to Consider $5 Million Funding for Ludlam Trail Construction
The City of Miami is moving forward with plans to fund its portion of the Ludlam Trail, a 5.6-mile linear park designed for walking, running, and bicycling. The Miami City Commission is scheduled to review a proposal on October 8th to direct the city manager to budget and allocate $5 million for the design and construction of the trail segments located within city boundaries. This initiative seeks to inject crucial funding into the long-delayed project during the current fiscal year.
The proposed funding, which could draw from available city sources including reserves, addresses a gap left by the recently approved fiscal 2026-27 budget, which did not initially include city funds for the trail. The Ludlam Trail is envisioned as a continuous recreational corridor along a former railroad right-of-way, stretching from Northwest Seventh Street to Southwest 80th Street. Its completion is expected to enhance connectivity between various neighborhoods and existing park facilities. For developers and property owners, the advancement of such infrastructure projects can increase property values and demand in adjacent areas by improving local amenities and accessibility.
