Miami’s I-395/SR 836/I-95 Project Sees Progress on Signature Bridge and Double-Decked Roadway
Construction is progressing on the extensive I-395/SR 836/I-95 Design-Build Project in the City of Miami. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) announced two key advancements for the freeway rebuilding effort. Work has commenced on a Mechanically Stabilized Earth (MSE) wall, which will provide crucial support for the westbound roadway as it transitions from the MacArthur Causeway to the new elevated I-395 Signature Bridge. This wall is a vital component for the structural integrity of the new bridge approach.
Additionally, crews recently completed a significant concrete pour for the new double-decked SR 836 roadway, located just west of the Miami River. This operation involved a single concrete pump and approximately 60 concrete trucks, placing 590 cubic yards of concrete, equivalent to about 2.4 million pounds. These milestones underscore the ongoing development of critical transportation infrastructure in downtown Miami, which is essential for regional connectivity and traffic flow. Developers and urban planners should note the continued investment in major civic projects that reshape the city's landscape.
